A little bit about me...
I’ve always felt empowered using technology to tell stories that strike the right balance of words and pictures. Sometimes it's all about the visuals, other times I just use my words. But mostly those worlds collide.
For my day job -- which more often than not is my night job -- I am an entertainment news producer for Associated Press Television. I conduct studio interviews, cover field assignments (red carpets, news events, interviews, etc.), and share bulletin-producing duties for a global television audience. I’ve regularly covered the Toronto International Film Festival, the Tony awards, and the Super Bowl for the entertainment beat. In addition to television production, I also write general news stories and produce online video. Prior to that appointment, I was an online video news producer covering major news events, including the 9-11 terror attacks, middle east unrest, and the Afghan and Iraq wars. Before that I was a photo editor covering sports, national, and features.
I’ve written seven books -- and at least 100 how-to articles --- on photography, moviemaking, and digital technology. My work has appeared in a variety of publications including American Photo, Photo District News, and Popular Photography Magazine. For the latter, I served for several years as Contributing Editor.
When not covering entertainment stories or writing about digital image technology, I succumb to the whims of my early masters, photography and moviemaking. Besides continually working on different photo projects (for myself and clients) , I've also worked on numerous video projects, including producing and directing several music videos.
